In his birthday message to Tinubu, President Buhari remarked that Tinubu's rising political profile since he was elected a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 1992 "is a testimony to his forthrightness, diligence and doggedness, the same qualities that had endeared him to the electorate and given him all-round success as a private sector worker, a businessman and two-term Governor of Lagos State."
Buhari also commended Tinubu's visionary leadership style, especially for "creating a formidable opposition party in Nigeria that worked vigorously within a short period to oust a party that had been in power for 16 years".

There was mayhem at Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State over the weekend when cultists killed nine people while avenging the killing of one their members.
Over the past Easter weekend, it was reported that suspected cultists killed nine people at Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State while avenging the death of one their members by another rival group.
According to Reports Afrique, the victims including eight males and one female were killed when the De-Well cult group reportedly invaded Asa Awana community.
The killing of the nine persons was said to have been carried out by De-Well against the De-Gbam cult group, which was alleged to have killed one of the De-Well members in the area.

Gospel musician, Yinka Ayefele loses band boy in auto accident

The Ibadan, Oyo State-based prolific musician has lost one of his band boys in a fatal accident late Saturday night along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
According to reports, the accident happened between 9 and 10 pm when the truck conveying musical equipment belonging to the ace musician ran into a ditch on the road. The driver, while attempting to handle the impact, swerved off the road and crashed the truck, leading to the death of one of his band boys, whose identity is yet to be confirmed.
Others in the truck also suffered various degrees of injuries. Both the dead and the injured victims were moved to University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan.
In 1997, the 'Bitter Experience' singer was involved in terrible automobile accident which damaged his spinal cord and confined him to a wheelchair.

The former England international showed no emotion as he was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court, and sat with his head bowed after the judge finished speaking.

As he was led to the cells, Johnson refused to look at his family.

The 28-year-old, who played for Premier League clubs Sunderland and Manchester City, was found guilty of sexual activity with the teenager following an incident in his Range Rover in County Durham in 2015 in which he kissed and sexually touched her.

Johnson also admitted another charge of sexual activity with a child and grooming the girl.

The family of a 20-year-old young lady, Joan Egemba, have been thrown into mourning after their daughter was stabbed and strangled by some suspected rapists in the Ijebu Igbo area of Ogun State.
Joan, who bagged a National Diploma (ND) in Accountancy from the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State, enrolled for the 2016 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
She left her home in Sango-Ota at 12noon on Thursday, March 3, for the National Open University of Nigeria centre in Awa Ijebu, where she was posted to sit for the exam the following day.
It was learnt that on Thursday evening, she was abducted at the Ijebu Oru Junction – a few distance away from the centre – by persons suspected to be r*pists.
Her corpse was found in a bush at the back of a secondary school in Ijebu Igbo with cuts in her thighs.

A woman in China was shocked and left in tears when she opened a package containing what she thought was a new Apple iPhone 6s, only to find it was labelled with a pear.

In what she thought was an unbelievably great deal online, the woman surnamed Zhao, allegedly paid 3,400 Yuan (£360) for one phone which turned out to be a fake, reported Huanqiu.com.

Ms Zhao found the phone online, after contacting the seller they agreed she would originally pay 3,400 Yuan (£360) for one phone.Considering an iPhone 6s is normally priced at 5,288 (£565) from the Apple store in China, she thought she was getting a good deal but she ended up paying 8,400 Yuan (£899).

47-Year-Old Woman Killed as Balcony Collapses in Mile 12, Lagos

The balcony of a story building at No 9 Alli Close – Mile 12 in Lagos state partially collapsed at about 8.45 am on Saturday.

According to investigation and assessment conducted by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA’s Emergency Response Team, the building had shown sign of distress as some portion of the balcony was caving in.

LASEMA’s spokesman, Kehinde Adebayo, told a reporter that full scale investigation as to the actual cause would be carried out by relevant government Agencies.

He said 47 years old woman sustained bodily injury and died on her way to the hospital, and no other casualty was recorded.

“The occupant of the 16 rooms building have been evacuated and the building condoned off for safety.

“Agencies on ground include LASEMA ERT and Lagos State Fire Service and the Nigerian Police Force, Alapere Division and the LASAMBUS.”

The LASEMA General Manager, Mr Michael Akindele advised the public to urgently report cases of building with defects and other emergencies in the state for appropriate action

Unknown number of female students of the Obafemi Awolowo University's pre-degree program got injured as the new Bva hostel collapsed. 
The heavy downpour in Osun State on Wednesday , did not drop well on the pre-degree foundation students of the OAU, as many of them were hospitalized, while others were made to sleep in the cold lecture theater. 
Osun State, especially Ife North, where region the OAU pre-degree campus is located witnessed an heavy downpour, which started at about 6:15pm on 16th February 2016. 
Halimat, who spoke to our correspondent said that the heavy rain and the ravaging wind took away roof of their hostel and made them sleep in the cold.

A 20-year-old girl identified as Ogbonna Onyinyechi who allegedly bit one Engineer Pius Ezema to death at 15, Ondo Street, Okobaba in Ebute Metta area of Lagos state, has revealed what led to the incident.

The suspect who has been in detention at Denton Police Station since the incident which occurred on March 12, said Pius quarrelled with her for singing loudly near his window in the ‘face-me-I -face-you’ apartment where they lived as next door neighbours.

The argument was said to have developed into a fierce fight which led to biting and the eventual death of the victim two days after. But Onyinyechi, narrating what transpired between her and the deceased to National Mirror, said she did not kill her neighbour as alleged.

According to her, she only defended herself from the deceased’s brutal attack.
