A Nigerian Court of Appeal sitting in Makurdi, Benue state has nullified the election of former Senate President David Mark in a ruling delivered by Justice Olabisi Ige.

The court ruled on six grounds of appeal brought against a lower tribunal ruling which earlier upheld Mark's election last month. In ruling on the appeal brought by Daniel Onjeh, the South Benue Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Justice Ige ruled that the election of Mr. Mark was fraught with so many irregularities that it failed all tests of "freeness and fairness".
In particular, the court noted that Mr. Mark's election results had been pre-written on March 28 before proper collation and announcement was made on March 30. The appeal panel ruled that a fresh election be conducted in 90 days in the senatorial zone.

A man was killed in a fracas involving two secret cult groups in the South-West area of Nigeria who engaged in a gun duel within the premises of an hotel.

There was a gun battle on Thursday night between yet to be identified rival cult groups, and at the end, one person was shot dead in a popular hotel in LagosState, according to P.M news.

The incident which happened at about 10pm at a popular hotel located in Akesan area also left several other people injured.

The police from Igando divisionhave recovered the corpse of the unidentified victim and deposited in the mortuary for autopsy report .

It was gathered that a group of young men suspectedto be cult members were in the hotel for a meeting when members of a rival cult group invaded the place and shot randomly.

Both the hotel workers and the group that was having meeting there scampered for safety and in theprocess sustained injuries while one person lost his life.

Sources at the station confirmed the incident and said the police have commenced investigation.At the hotel, one of the workers who refused to identify himself , confirmed the incident and directeda reporter to Igando police station for further information.

Poland's Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski said
on Friday that a Polish cargo ship under the Cyprus
flag was attacked off the coast of Nigeria by pirates,
who kidnapped five members of the crew, including
the captain and officers, Reuters reports.

"The rest of the crew, 11 people, are still on the ship
and they are safe... The ship suffered some damages,"
Waszczykowski told a news conference.

The ship, named Szafir (Sapphire), had been sailing
from the Belgian port of Antwerp to Nigeria,and it
belongs to Polish company Euroafrica, based in
Szczecin, north western Poland.

The ship is currently anchored around 30 sea miles off
the Nigerian coast. The Kidnappers have not made any
demands yet.

Two young girls who were rescued by the Cross RiverState Police Command on Thursday, Novemeber 26, said they were made sex slaves by a herbalist, Emmanuel Akpan-Okon, who held them hostage for four years.

The kids, Esther Wisdom and Felicia Destiny, both aged 11, said in the four years that they were held hostage, the herbalist raped them almost every day.

Montreal Revealed Didier Drogba open to being Chelsea manager

Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has told BBC
Africa he would like to "give back" to the Premier
League club in the future by becoming their manager
or taking on another senior role.

Drogba, 37, is currently contracted to Montreal
Impact, where he has scored 12 goals in 14 Major
League Soccer appearances.

The Ivorian played for Chelsea over two separate
stints, netting 157 goals in 341 outings and helping
the club lift several trophies, including four Premier
League titles and the Champions League.

Drogba said: "I want to give back to the club which
has given so much to me. I have agreed that with the
club directors.

"Why not manager? Why not sporting director, trainer
at the academy or maybe an advising role for
strikers?"
Current Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has come
under pressure this season having won just four of
their 13 league fixtures so far.
But Drogba is confident his former boss will turn
things around at Stamford Bridge, adding: "If the club
has kept him that means owner Roman Abramovich
thinks that he is the right man.
"I think the players trust him and he is giving his best
to change the situation.
"They have quality when it comes to the players, and
quality when it comes to the management. This is a
club which usually doesn't have a bad season twice."
Drogba has called on Chelsea's leaders to stand up and

"They helped me to change my relationship with the
