Indiscipline: Mimiko suspends three principals, 23 teachers
Following their alleged un-professional attitudes toward
their job, three principals and 23 teachers from
different public secondary schools across Ondo State
have been suspended by the state government.
This was disclosed by the Chairman of the state
Teaching Service Commission, Mr Francis Igbasan in
Akure, the state capital, at the presentation of
promotion letters to 2,500 teachers in the state.
He explained that during an unscheduled visit of
members of the commission to over 72 secondary
schools across the state, it was discovered that the
suspended principals and teachers were not
disciplined.
According to him, "the commission would not take
the issue of indiscipline at work lightly again, the
TESCOM of yesterday is different from the TESCOM of
today. Any teacher or member of staff that is not
serious at his or her duty posts would be shown the
way out.
"This government is trying its best for workers of this
state, so the workers too should reciprocate it with
hardwork," he added.
At the occasion, Governor Olusegun Mimiko
announced that the commission had been directed to
recruit 1,050 teachers.
Mimiko, who was presented by his deputy, Alhaji
Lasisi Oluboyo stated that the recruitment would be
based on merit and that the recruitment examination
conducted in 2014 will also be used.

PHOTO: Woman Stabs Teenager Over ‘husband-snatching’ Scandal In Ghana
Residents of East Tanokrom, Takoradi Metropolis, Ghana, were Friday, thrown into shock as a house wife, one Effia Mensah, stabbed a 15-year-old teenager identified only as Lu'lu over allegations that she was having an affair with her husband, Komnan Mensah.
Effia, a mother of two
had trailed the victim to her apartment which she
claimed was rented for her by her husband on
the other side of town.
Meanwhile, her husband who was not present at
home to celebrate the cross-over night with his
family, was with the victim.
It was gathered that the victim, an only child to
her deceased parents, had been having an affair
with the father of two.
It was gathered that Effia trailed her husband to
the victim's apartment, where she stabbed her on
the eye.
When we got to the scene of the incident,
the victim, who had lost so much blood, was
being taken to the hospital.
A police officer from the Komfoase, Takoradi
Police station, confirmed that the mother of two
stabbed her victim with a 'sharp knife on her right
eye after trailing her husband.'
He said, "I was just passing by when people
beckoned on me, saying there had been an
incident here. When I got to the scene, the victim
was bleeding profusely, with all her bed soaked
with blood. I recognised someone I knew and
asked him to take the victim to the hospital so I
could investigate the case and arrest Effia.
"She is going with me to the hospital, after which,
I will take her to the station for questioning," the
police officer noted.
Speaking with our source, Mensah said, "I was
very surprised coming back to a house I just left,
only to see people wailing.
"When I asked, I was told a certain woman who
happened to be my wife, stabbed Lu'lu, my friend,
who had been taken to a hospital. In short I was
just rushing off to the hospital before you asked
to have a chat with me."
At the hospital, Essikado General Hospital, Lu'lu,
who had been put under life support was crying
profusely.
When our correspondent asked Mensah if he
could reckon with what happened, he spoke
further, "My wife does not understand English
very well, hence, I will speak in my dialect so I
don't cause more harm. She does not satisfy me
in bed, so I decided to have a girlfriend who can
satisfy me."
"I wonder how she managed to know where Lu'lu
resides, to the extent of stabbing her? Mensah
added.
"I do everything as a husband, a father," the
father of two added, stating further that, "my
family is never hungry. Where did I go wrong or
is it because I decided to take a girl friend?"
Meanwhile, when the suspect was asked if she
had proof of Lu'lu being her husband's lover
before she decided to hurt her, Effia said, "I am
very sure. My husband hardly sleeps at home. So
I trailed him on Christmas day and I found out
where he always visited.
"I asked questions around before I concluded and
today (Friday), he left the house very early so I
decided to follow him behind without his
knowledge, " she stated.

Two-year-old girl tragically dies just two days after Christmas from swallowing a battery
The day after Christmas, 2-year-old Brianna Florer was laughing and jumping around with her older brother and two sisters opening presents at her grandparents' home. The next day the precocious blond-haired toddler was dead.
An X-ray of her tiny body showed the "killer" was a shiny, silver button battery.
"On Saturday she was fine," maternal grandfather Kent Vice said. "It was a perfect Christmas."Brianna had not been feeling well for a couple of days, throwing up and running a low-grade fever, he said.
Late Sunday, Brianna threw up blood, and her body turned a blue color. Her parents, Brian and Stephanie Florer, who live in rural Delaware County, called the Jay ambulance, which met them at a convenience store to check Brianna's condition.
"She threw up again," Vice said. "It was a massive amount of blood, and they rushed her to the Grove hospital."The Grove physicians quickly diagnosed Brianna's problem, and she was taken by ambulance to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, where she was rushed into surgery, he said.
Bad weather had grounded all medical transportation by helicopter, Vice said.
"They operated on her for 2½ hours, but they couldn't stop the bleeding," Vice said. "They believed the battery ate through to her carotid artery by way of her esophagus."
"One minute she is perfect, and the next minute she is dead," Vice said. "We had no idea when she swallowed it (the battery)."The family learned Brianna probably swallowed the battery within six days of her death.
Vice said he wants to do something about button batteries. "I want to keep these things out of houses," he said. "They are dangerous."
A Go Fund Me account has been set up to help the family with funeral expenses.
Eddie Johnson with the state medical examiner's office said the child's autopsy is pending, and it would be two to four months before an official cause and manner of death is known.
There were 53 reported cases in Oklahoma of children and adults swallowing a button or disk battery this year, said Randy Badillo, Oklahoma Poison Control Center senior specialist. "No fatalities have been reported to us," he said.
Normally the battery passes through the digestive system, he said.
"But, if the battery lodges in the esophagus or digestive tract, it can open and release an alkaline substance that can cause corrosive or burning injuries," Badillo said. From 2005 to 2014, there were 11,940 battery-swallowing incidents involving children under the age of 6 nationally, according to the National Capitol Poison Center in Washington, D.C. Of those cases, 15 children died, and another 101 suffered major medical problems.
"These devastating outcomes occur in small children when batteries get stuck in the esophagus," said Dr. Toby Litovitz, center physician. When a lithium button battery lodges in a child's esophagus, it causes an electrical current to go through the tissue, she said.
"The electrical current is causing more damage because it is splitting the water surrounding the button battery and forming hydroxide, which is an ingredient in lye. Imagine dropping little tiny drops of lye in one place in the esophagus," Litovitz said. The lye substance perforates the esophagus and goes into whatever tissue is nearby — it can be the aorta or the trachea.
Serious complications also have been seen when small batteries are placed in the nose or ear — another situation where urgent removal is critical, Litovitz said.
"The important thing to remember is, these batteries are everywhere."Vice was close to his granddaughter. He handled caretaking duties for Brianna when she was an infant for three weeks after her parents returned to work.
"She never — not one time — had a bad day," Vice said, his voice cracking with emotion. "She was always happy and laughing. "I took care of her — she was just an angel."Source: TheOklahoman

See The Guy That Passed Out At The One Lagos Fiesta (Photo)
This guy had so much to drink over the night at the One Lagos Fiesta that he passed out and mistook the ground for his mat at home.
And it is so unfortunate that no one attended to him, not even his friends as everyone felt he was old enough to know what is good for him.
What a way to start the new year.

Wande Coal reacts to Olamide, Don Jazzy clash
Wande Coal is now trending for this tweet he posted just a few minutes after the Don Jazzy, Olamide clash at Headies Awards. He then followed Olamide on Twitter...as the saying Goes"your enemy enemies is your"
Oh dear! Olamide Just Wounded Don Jazzy On Twitter After Clash At Headies Awards
2016 has officially started off with a bang and if any industry beef tops this this year, I'll be seriously surprised. Olamide has taken to Twitter to rip into Don Jazzy after a clash at the Headies awards tonight. So here's what happened. Reekado Banks, who is under Mavin Records beat the likes of Lil Kesh, Korede Bello, Cynthia Morgan and Kiss Daniel to win The Next Rated Award for 2015.
This obviously didn't go well with Olamide and he made his feelings known when he climbed the stage with the whole YBNL team, when his artist Adekunle Gold won the award for Best Alternative act for his song, Shade.
While expressing his appreciation, LilKesh prostrated before Olamide who then took the mic and said; "This award belongs to Lil Kesh. Lil Kesh is our own Next Rated artist. F**k that shit! The streets ti take over. Every f**king single was a hit back to back. From lyrically to Shoki to Efejoku. Ko ni dafun Iya anybody", he then threw the mic down and they all walked off the stage.
After Olamide's speech, Don Jazzy won The lifetime Achievement Award & while taking his award, he addressed Olamide's rant on stage. He said "Egbon Olamide, if you want the car, come and take it." (Next Rated win comes with a car).
Olamide went nuts after this and came for Don Jazzy on Twitter.
